With less than eight weeks to go until I depart from Guernsey, things are getting really exciting now! Training is still going ok, although my bike has been in the shop for a service the past couple of days. Will be making up for that as soon as I can; hopefully the weather will be kind and the rain will hold off!
Fundraising is not going as well as planned so I'll really have to crack down on that over the upcoming weeks. A few generous sponsorships have been made though, so thank you to you guys for supporting me and giving me a helping hand! Have had a few negative comments regarding the cycle which is a shame, but that's all part of the challenge I guess! The positive support I've received and my own excitment far out-weigh these set-backs, and hopefully it will continue that way.
Vietnam visa application complete and sent off so it's time to start looking for some padded cycle shorts!

Hello! Just a quick one to give you the link to my fundraising page on my charities website:

Please donate generously!
Re training, I think it's going rather well! I've been getting on the bike almost every day, although the weather here has been shocking so some days have been just a quick nip out.
Looking forward to some sunny cycling! Live in hope :)

Only 4 months left!
So - 4 months encounting and training has
been reduced to cycling to work! Yey!! I arrive like a fresh sweat ball, but I
WILL be fit enough to complete this damn challenge ha!!
Completely loving mountain
biking at the moment, Jessi is coming over in August so we will be taking her on some awesome tracks in Wales. Best way to train more than likely, due to the terrain.
Jessi and I did the Rock to Rocque challenge in Guernsey the other week;
I was like a spoilt child because I wasn’t on my own bike –uh oh!! We did it
though, 25miles in 2 ½ hours easy peasy :) I am slightly worried that I have become too accustomed to my own bike. but it’s going to be tough to use someone else's bike
out there.
I have another charity cycle on Sunday;
this one is 28 miles around the Wirral. I did this last year, so I know what to
expect, should be pretty fun – weather dependent.

Update
The past few weeks have been busy busy organising a few fundraising events, the first of which was held yesterday! A car boot sale; was a painful 7am start, but it was worth it! Apparently people love getting up super early to buy second hand nick nacks. I'd made £25 before I'd even finished unpacking my car, people were that eager! I raised the grand sum of £211.60 from that one sale, not too bad eh! Still have quite alot of stuff left over though, so will be organising a second car boot sale in a few weeks time. Hopefully that one will be just as successful!
In other fudraising news, Guernsey has recently had elections and so I have been writing to the newly appointed Deputies to tell them about this cycle challenge. I have had quite a few generous donations come through as a result, which is great! One sponsorship in particular that I wish to mention is from Deputy and Mrs Storey, who have committed to sponsoring me 50p per kilometer cycled. With the challenge being almost 400km in total, that's quite a substantial amount (assuming that I completed the entire thing of course). So i'd just like to say a big thank you to them, and also to the others who had sponsored me so far :).
Exciting times in the next few weeks, namely Jubilee Weekend because Steph is travelling from across the water to visit me in Guernsey! That weekend there is an event called the Rocque to Rock, where anyone who wishes to can cycle the approx. 33miles/53km around the island to help raise money for Les Bourgs Hospice. Although we won't be raising money for Les Bourgs (raising money for one charity at a time is hard enough!), we will be taking part. I have done it before in previous years and it's good fun, a brilliant way to see the island and you meet people from all walks of life. Will also be a good opportunity for Steph and myself to see where we are cycle ability and fitness wise compard to each other!
That's all for now, more soon!!

We famous!
Ok,
so it has been a while since I have been able to sit down and write you all a
little message, but jeeze have I been busy. To bring you up to speed regarding
the fundraising: Jessi and I appeared in the local news, woo, and we have had some
amazing people sponsor us. Jessi has done incredibly well with her fundraising;
I need to up my game, so if you haven’t already sponsored me I WILL be
pestering you for your pennies J
My friends,
Jayne and Lowri have even offered their time to help set up a charity auction.
So we will be working on that for the next few weeks. Really exciting stuff!!
I
have kind of been lacking on the fitness front, whoops! Started back training
again on Sat, after spending a small fortune repairing my bike – who knew the
price of them nowadays! I’m waking up every morning talking myself into getting
onto my bike, it’s working so far, but it is only Monday! Lowri and I have
signed up to a bikethon even in June and then there is a further charity event
in July which is 85miles so I have small mile stones to meet before November.
All in all there is a lot to keep me busy with at the moment!! Fun Fun!
Speak
to you soon xx

Getting Started...
Crazy to think that this time in 9 months, we will be out there, pushing ourselves to the limit, in a far away land, all for charity!
I can definately say that I'm excited, even at this point! I think the nerves will start to kick in possibly a month or two before departure. Although saying that, I went for a small bike ride yesterday evening, a mere 6 miles along the coast of Guernsey, smooth flat terrain (ie a road), and it was not easy! Even walked the last 30meters, to my shame. Arrived home wheezing like a 40 a day smoker. So maybe I should be nervous.
Tried to set up an online donation page with Virginmoneygiving.com this evening, but unfortunately my charity (La Societe Guernesiaise) are not as yet registered with them. Hopefully this will be rectified within the next couple of days, so that everyone can keep track of how the fundraising side of things is coming along. So far, I have managed to recycle my old phone for a grand total of £1.53 with Envirophone! Success!
Many fundraising ideas brewing in my head at the moment; can't wait to start putting them in action!
Here's to my first blogging experience! (Shame it doesn't have spell check!)

About the Challenge
Jessie an I have set up this blog to keep you all up to date with our challenge, starting with the fund raising and training right up to the actual challenge its self.
The challenge begins on November the 8th where we will be cycling from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and arriving as two sweaty messes and 400km later in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Flights where booked on Sunday and training began Monday, needless to say I am sat here on Valentines (alone) craving pizza already - I think this will be the toughest part of the challenge, not being able to eat anything with cheese :( However the show must go on and so it has, Jessie has already cycled around Guernsey, a round trip of 28miles, just triple that, times it by 5 days add a touch of humidity and its like we're already on the challenge, only joking Jess!! I've been to a couple of spin classes, which was mainly climbing, apparently I need to practice my bike control as dodging dogs and small children is actually more important that being able to climb the non existent hills on our cycle - I'll get onto that this weekend.
So all that is left to do, is sort out my fund raising ideas. I've had brilliant support from my chosen charity Roy Castle, the lady Bec's that I've been emailing has been beyond helpful, so I'm really excited to get stuck in.
Speak to you soon,
Steph xx
P.s - this is our finish line - pretty incredible!!
